Landsberger Brewery Relies on Clayton Steam Masters for Efficient Brewing

The Landsberger family brewery, located near Halle/Leipzig, produces eight distinctive beers with strong regional roots. Their range — with names like “Proud Rooster”, “Cheeky Goat”, and “Colorful Dog” — reflects their commitment to tradition, quality, and the character of rural life in central Germany.

 

The Challenge: Outdated Steam Generation

Since its founding in 1996, Landsberger Brewery had relied on a horizontal quick steam generator to provide process steam. After more than 20 years of operation, the system could no longer guarantee reliable performance. Constant repairs and the prospect of yet another heating coil replacement made it clear: the brewery needed a modern, efficient steam solution.

The Solution: Clayton Steam Master Series

 

At the BRAU trade fair in 2017, Landsberger Brewery discovered the Clayton Steam Master range. Impressed by its vertical design and on-demand steam capability, the management team chose two Steam Master CSM 30 units in 2018.

Key Benefits for Brewing Operations

  • Energy efficiency: Compared to their old 1.5-ton boiler, Landsberger saves at least 30% in energy thanks to Clayton’s advanced modulation technology, high efficiency, and rapid response to fluctuating steam demand.
  • Operational flexibility: Whether brewing, bottling, or filling kegs, the Steam Masters adapt easily — from just 100 kg/h to 900 kg/h of steam output.
  • Higher reliability: Two smaller steam generators ensure redundancy, avoiding downtime and reducing regulatory requirements.
  • Easy installation & monitoring: Thanks to compact design and existing piping, installation was smooth. Remote monitoring and intelligent timer controls make day-to-day operations simple and dependable.

Since commissioning in November 2018, both Clayton steam generators have run without a single malfunction — proving the value of the Steam Master solution for breweries of all sizes.
